The Gardiner Mines (Cape Breton University) plant is a Wind power plant located in Gardiner Mines, NS. Gardiner Mines (Cape Breton University) has a peak capacity of 5.4 MW which is generated by Wind. The current owner and operator of the Gardiner Mines (Cape Breton University) facility is Gardner Mines Wind Farm LP.
In January 2016, CBU opened the wind farm, establishing a new revenue stream for the university by selling energy to Nova Scotia Power under the province’s Community Feed-in Tariff (COMFIT) program. Currently, the university generates more electricity than it consumes.
